Types of Cyberbullying: Recognising Online Harm

Types of Cyberbullying

Cyberbullying can happen in different ways. Understanding these forms helps us recognize harmful online behavior.

1. Harassment

This involves repeatedly sending hurtful, insulting, or threatening messages to someone.

2. Spreading Rumours

False information can be shared online to damage someone's reputation or relationships.

3. Sharing Private Pictures or Videos

Posting someone's private or embarrassing pictures or videos without permission can cause serious harm.

4. Impersonation

This happens when someone pretends to be another person online and uses their identity to embarrass or harm them.

5. Online Exclusion

Someone may deliberately be left out of an online group or activity to make them feel unwanted.

6. Threats and Intimidation

Sending messages that frighten or pressure another person is another form of cyberbullying.

What Can We Do?

We should not like, share, or encourage harmful content. Instead, we can report it, support the person affected, and tell a trusted adult when help is needed.

Think before you post. Respect others online.
